What is GPS and how does it work?  Top
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is made up of 27 Earth-orbiting satellites. These satellites are equipped with atomic clocks that send radio signals of their location. When the GPS receiver (Ubi-4000) locks on to four or more of these satellites, it triangulates the position of the receiver using the coordinates of the satellites. The device receives updated position information every 3 to 5 seconds.
How does the UBI-4000 work?  Top
The UBI-4000 has a wireless modem inside of it which communicates the GPS coordinates via the wireless network. This data is then sent to our servers to be displayed to the end user via the web and the mapping software.
What is the difference between your “Real-time” GPS system and a “Passive” GPS tracking system?  Top
A “Real-time system like the one we offer utilizes wireless networks to allow you to receive the UBI-4000 location within seconds of its actual location. This data can include speed, direction and altitude as well. “Passive” systems are typically limited to vehicle tracking only and once installed, must be physically downloaded daily in order to access the stored tracking information. Real time tracking has become the standard for companies or individuals who wish to use GPS location devices for tracking all sorts of assets.
What can the UBI-4000 be used for?  Top
The UBI-4000 can, and is, used for almost any application you can think of when it comes to the desire to find something. Parents wanting to track their kids at day care, keeping track of their teenagers driving habits, keeping an eye on wandering Alzheimer patients, finding your lost family pet, logging your cross country trip, or tracking weekend hikers through a trail, the UBI-4000 can be a life saver.
Where can I use the UBI-4000?  Top
Virtually anywhere! The UBI-4000 uses the latest technology featuring SiRF star III technology for extra sensitive reception outdoors, indoors and through metal. The GPS assist function uses the latest in GSM network technology, boosting location sensitivity if the GPS signal is temporarily lost. WAAS enabled receiver provides GPS signal corrections, giving better position accuracy. How much better? Try an average of up to five times better. A WAAS-capable receiver can give you a position accuracy of better than three meters 95 percent of the time.
How long will the batteries last?  Top
The UBI-4000 uses a lithium rechargeable battery that when fully charged will last up to 24 hours on standby mode. The optional car charger kit can be purchased for easy recharging when on the go. Also, an extended battery pack within a water tight magnetic case can be purchased which will extend the life up to 4 days or more.
What is a Geofence?  Top
A Geofence is a word created to describe one of the features of the UBI-4000. Using the website, you can set a virtual fence around an area and if the device moves from this predefined area you can be notified via an email alert.
What is the SOS button on the device for?  Top
You can also send an alert via email to any predefined email address should you be stranded or need assistance.
Will the UBI-4000 work outside of the USA?  Top
Yes, virtually anywhere in the world where there is a wireless network you can locate the UBI-4000. The UBI-4000 uses Tri-Band GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz for worldwide coverage.

Is it illegal to track someone without their knowledge?  Top
The laws vary from region to region but in general yes, the use of a GPS tracking device to track a person without their permission could be illegal or result in a legal action against you. While this device can be used for covert tracking, that is not our market. We are providing individuals with the ability to track their own assets. In fact, we strongly recommend when being used to track teen drivers that they be made aware they are being tracked. This knowledge alone can serve as a deterrent to any misbehavior.
